could someone please explain the different driving modes in a m240ix

so there is a switch for eco, sport and sport+ but also there is S mode and Manual
are they all completely diifferent or do i need to follow some order for best performance
and just what is going on when i change those besides the obvious change in shift points
will i get less mpg in sport+ vs sport? i thought i understood this but apparently not. im
also using a stage 2.5 mg flasher tune and xhp on a 2019 m240ix. every now and then when im on the freeway accelerating slowly it feels like something decouples the engine from the trans when it shifts gears. wondering if thats fairly normal and really just trying to better understand how my car works

Decoupling happens in eco mode as a default
Xhp has a newer decoupling option too, I haven't used the option yet but if your not in eco mode wheen feeling it I'd check there next.
Eco will get good mpg, xhp can add to that if it's a focus. I don't mess with it for fear of unwanted timing corrections

The comfort and sport modes are more engine and chassis
If you have the Adaptive suspension option you can also use idrive to choose if that kicks on in sport/sport+ individually
I keep mine set to only stiffen up in sport+ so I have a nice blend of comfort and power in sport
Note holding sport down a couple seconds puts you in sport even from eco and vice versa

The D S M modes that show in the display, when you go left and right with the shifter or use the paddles- those are all specific for transmission control.

All modes play a little effect on aggressiveness and shift points, just gotta play with it to see where you like to be in certain driving situations.
