BMW 2 Series Production Officially Begins Today, as More M235i are Spotted
BIMMERPOST NEWS More M235i Coupes Spotted as 2 Series Production Officially Begins Production of the 2 Series Coupe officially begins today at BMW's Leipzig plant, which also builds the X1, F20/F21 1 Series and the i3 electric car (i8 will also be produced at the same plant in 2014). BMW has announced that the market launch date for the 2 Series is March 2014 and its world public debut will come at the 2014 Detroit auto show in January. Initially, up to 720 2-Series will be produced per day, but that figure may be increased if needed. So far, the 2 Series lineup includes M235i, 228i, 220i, 225 and 225d coupes. The 2 Series convertible will join the lineup next year. Meanwhile, some M235i preproduction models were recently spotted in public. This white M235i coupe was spotted in New Jersey by BIMMERPOST member manoloo and the red M235i in Leipzig by an Autogespot member. Source: Automobil Produktion |

I can't get over how terrible that rear end is...most probably because of the diffuser. Everything else looks amazing.

white one looks pretty ok. have to see it in real life tough to say for sure.
but the red one looks shitty as hell. too much going on here. horrible seats, grey mirror caps look out of place. and the white numberplate makes it even worse. |

The placement of that trunk lid lip is a little weird looking in these pics.
I have a question, why doesn't the 2er and especially the M235i, have the brake vents like all the other newer BMW models? BMW needs to rush this out, MB is selling the CLA like hot cakes.

I think the rear will look better in real life...at least the rear of the white one is looking better to me.
That red one (which is a NA-spec car given the nasty orange reflector--delete mod a must) with those seats, is not for me. Let's not go Mini on us BMW. And don't those wheels look different on that red one compared to the standard 18" on the M235i?

Agreed. I have my spot reserved in line, yet I don't even know what I can get on the damned thing.

Since when production starts before ordering begin or even site configurator? My experience BMW makes it available on the site first to see how the initial demand is ... Strange!

We are not the only ones getting the 2er. Production begins for other markets today. The M235i does not debut for us until Jan 2014 in Detroit with production to follow

The 2 Series will launch to all markets at the same time - around March according to BMW.

Spoke with my dealer over the weekend. A friend recently offered to buy my DD, so was inquiring how soon I could take delivery of M235i. He's looking into it, but based on the production schedule shared with them, could see them before year end...assuming you're top of the list.

Maybe it is just a misunderstanding from my side but if the production start today at 720 cars a day and the first car will only be available at the dealer in March where are you going to put all of theses cars and why we have to wait that long after the beginning of the production to get the car?
