We can always hope my man--they came out with some good options for the E82, which was also pretty bootleg from the factory.

Why get a 2014?

Please allow the Alcantara seats to be a Priority 1 NO COST option !!! Not every American likes leather. How hard could it be...They're sitting right there at the factory.

I've now seen about 5 CLA's on the road here in Socal. Look like mini Jag X types with the droopy front and back. No Thanks.

That little coupe is a trip down (e46) memory lane.

Sorry I don't abide by the US insistence of everything 1 year ahead.
In Europe it will be a 2014 car.

I bet the 2 will be like the 1, zero or 1 poorly optioned one at dealers at all times.

Why would it be any different than the 1? After all, it does just replace the 1.

I bet most dealers - after maybe the initial couple months where they might have a whopping 3 or 4, will quickly drop to stocking one or zero.

And the ones they do stock will be $45k 228i cars with no M sport and no xenons, and virtually nothing you can see on the car that could conceivably make it a $45k car. Kind of like all the $40k+ 320i cars around here that have no Msport or xenons yet still manage to blow past $40k.

Seriously, there aren't going to be 20-30 of these at every dealer at all times, the vast majority of the public wants a big fat sedan, not a small coupe; as such, dealers aren't going to be stocking them even if they have allocations for them, most will be special ordered.

But that is generally true. All the 128i my dealership had were generally premium package with navigation with heated seats!

Well, you can always go on cars.com and find much (perhaps most) of the national dealer inventory. It may not be close or convenient, but some dealer somewhere will likely have one optioned to your satisfaction. If not, then order what your want or do Euro delivery.

I'd find another dealer or two...

Most dealers order cars the way people generally want them.

Otherwise they sit accordingly-

That is the way people want them outside the enthusiast community: bloated and stuffed to the brim with luxury options.

Pretty much, the average lark just walks on the lot with the roundel in their eyes and buys whatever boring black, white, or silver car the dealer has and probably isn't even really aware of the available options.

Most people out there probably don't even know what xenons are and have been blind to the fact that half the cars on the road have obviously different headlights and have for the last fifteen years, and I can't remember the last time I saw M sport anything at my local dealers, which are both large ones. I don't even remember the last time I saw an M sport anything on the road. Granted I live in the north, so all the dealers do is order 15 copies of the same black xdrive whatever with wonky options that drive the price to mid 40s and line them up on the lot waiting for the larks to arrive.

I used to think people made informed decisions about cars, then I realized if you mentioned xenons to the average person they would look at you like you had three heads, then say they don't know what you're talking about even after explaining it, and then finally just saying they don't care. lol.

Us wanting M sport and all the fun options and fun colors are not the norm.

If I buy a 2, I'd want to order it since I know no dealer will stock exactly what I want, but it would still be nice to see/drive an M sport 2 so I can get a good look/impression before ordering.

the hood of the roadster is so much more sculpted compared to that of the 2series wish they could have given it the detail work as well.

IMO, the M235i is destined to be a much sought after ride and eventually a classic. Small, fast and with razor sharp road manners, what is not to like? Some will take issue with a styling detail or whatever, send me your resume as a designer, so I can evaluate the validity of that opinion.

i just thought the white photos showed the car true. the red pictures, i mean discounting all the noise of the pictures from whatever phone cam these are off of i presume.... the angle or the zoom of the pics are making the car look its worst, the proportions look exaggerated.

I have to agree - the red doesn't do this car any favors unless you're at certain angles.

I would really like to see some hi-res in darker colors or see how that might change

I am sure it won't be up on BMWusa for a while.

Dealers still have a number of 1-series sitting on lots. So they would like to move those first, before the non-informed realize there is a 2-series right around the corner.
