Super rough ride on m sport suspension?
I have an e93 335i with m sport suspension package and 193 wheels and the ride is insanely rough, even on smooth roads it feels like im riding a skateboard, ive only had the car for about 5000 miles and the previous owner changed all the shocks 25k miles ago, is this just how the car rides in general? What could be causing this, the shocks were changed at a super reputable shop so I doubt they messed up the install, could worn bump stops be causing this? any advice is welcome, if this is just a characteristic of the suspension with the bigger wheels and thinner tires, what should I change to smooth the ride out a bit?
P.S. I dont have run flats on the car |

Need more details. What shocks and struts were installed? Exactly what tires are on the car, and what sizes if not stock? Has it ridden this rough since you bought it, or gotten progressively worse?

Got a 93 330d on OE m sport suspension with 19" rims running 30 and 35 walled run flat tyres. Yes it rode hard let alone noisy.
I've gone against the grain and put a square set of OE 17" rims with 45 walled conventional tyres on. The cars now ride as one would expect a high end car luxury should. It still corners like its on rails, is far quieter inside, and I am not paying dumb money for a single use RFT. The change was significant enough for the wife to notice and she notices virtually nothing with cars. I picked up a space saver, scissor jack, and wheel brace from the wreckers. I have a tyre repair kit at home and compressor. I realise its not "the look", but I suspect my son will eventually see the light with his 92 of same build. |

What brand shocks and struts? Have you looked at the rubber bits in the suspension components and confirmed they aren't torn? What tires and their sizes do you have? Any changes from when you test drove and bought it?

If your car is on m sport suspension and they used standard suspension bump stops, which are significantly longer than the m sport bump stops, then you would be riding on the bump stops which would translate to a rough ride. I don't have measurements for the respective bump stops, but you can look at images online and see which corresponds to what you got currently installed.
