228i suspension
Hey guys I’m new to the BMW world. I’ve had my car for over a year. I’ve thought of upgrading my suspension to a Coilover kit. However, I’ve seen that some cars may have adaptive suspension. I looked at my shocks and it seems like it could be. I’m not totally sure. Any insight on how to verify if I do or not? Photo is the Front right suspension.

Hey guys, I’ve own my M235i for about 6 months now and I’ve started to notice a rattling noise and knocking noise in my back driver side suspension. I know this can’t be normal but can’t pin point what’s wrong. I have a video but can’t post it in here

To OP, yes, that's adaptive. You can tell by the cylinder above the brake shield.
It can be either replaced with another set of adaptive shocks (OEM or aftermarket) or completely coded out to passive shocks and use whatever you want. To 2nd post: If they're still original and depending on the mileage/general life the car had. It might be a good idea to consider swapping the shocks out. At least the rears. Also buy supporting hardware such as mounts and rubber pieces. The rattle likely is the shock, unless one of your control arms or brake shield came loose. |
