New car maintenance history what should I do extre
Just bought this 2017 230i cabrio. Glad I bought Premium maintenance contract for two years. 80,000 miles on it. They just had to replace a front right shock that was leaking. Pictures show the work done at the tune of $3400. Following pictures show the maintenance done for the life of the car so far. Asking what I should do about the lifetime fluids? Looking at the maintenance were they changed? Thanks for any advice or help. |

First, I'd recommend finding a independent mechanic that specializes in BMWs for non-warranty and basic maintenance work. If money is no object for your car, then go ahead and keep going to the dealer.
Brake service, check rotor and pad thickness. Brake fluid is good for approx 2-3 years, so it wouldn't hurt to do that. Or buy a tester and check the health yourself. Engine coolant I don't see mentioned besides the coolant hose around 47k. Might as well do both systems with the vacuum pump method. Differential fluid, I don't see on the list.. might as well go ahead and do the drain and fill on that too. Transmission fluid, assuming automatic, the service is pricey. And you may need to find a specialist who will follow the correct procedure. Some people wait until 100k miles. Do a little research before jumping on that one. |

Kurbmaster: if you're in Albany, your local BMWCCA club's website shows the shops at this link supporting the club: https://www.patroonbmw.org/links/#de...-service-shops. You might try contacting the club directly and asking them which shop(s) might be best for your present needs. Don't xDrives have a transfer case and a front differential, too? Doing all three, the transmission, and the coolant and brake flushes may be shockingly high no matter who performs the service.

More parts = more service unfortunately. Under car stuff generally sucks and definitely isn't for everyone to DIY. Hope you are able to keep the car a long time! |

I have access to a lift and a mechanic that should be able to do the work you mentioned. I’ll contact the local club. I do all the maintenance on my BMW motorcycle. Plan with my mechanic friend to buy the correct fluids and do a lot of work myself.
So transfer cases, transmission fluid, according to correct procedures, radiator flush, brake flushes every 2-3 years, did I miss anything. Since i bought the warranty package I’ll document and keep receipts for the work I do. Is there any problem with that. |

Make sure you use the correct OEM fluids for Tranny and Diff, very important for the Diff, as heat is a big factor and the transfer case aint cheap to replace...
$3400 for a strut replacement? Does it have adaptive suspension? What was cost of part vs cost of labor? Thats about a 3-4 hour job.

The bill is there with the explanation of the costs. Basically $1500 for labor and the same for all the parts I think they replaced both front struts now looking at the bill. I know things aren't cheap I think with the different modes in this car that it does have adaptive suspension.
