PLEASE stop using Photobucket for pictures...
First of all I would like to thank all of the helpful DIY folks that sacrifice their time so that others can benefit from their experiences working on their car. Thank you.
I find that a lot of older DIY guides no longer have pictures attached. When I check the source almost 4/5 times it was uploaded to photobucket and it has either run out of bandwidth or it was removed. This is unacceptable for a DIY. Please, just use Imgur OR upload using the "Attachment" feature built into the forums. That way, all of the pictures remain semi-permanently. Imgur won't remove your pictures. The forum will definitely not remove them unless something catastrophic happens like a database crash, in which case a backup most likely exists, hopefully. TL;DR Please use Imgur to upload your images. Way too many DIY threads with missing pictures. As an alternative, use the forum attachment feature which allows for direct uploads.

I have tons of DIY E46 and E39 pics on my comcast account.
They just eliminated that! I am reluctant to store them online going forward. Self hosting may be the best. Why do you say Imgur? How is that different than any other spot? |

Most diy's that use photobucket are old and created back when imgur was not around and popular yet. It's also unfortunate that most of those diy creators are no longer around or no longer have the original files. If you notice now all or most of the new diy's use other uploaders such as imgur. Also imgur does clean their database every now and then and removes low bandwidth files. I've already experienced this where a couple of my very old images that were not displayed anywhere and were not receiving views/bandwidth were eventually deleted.

I started creating a PDF file along with the DIY so that it is printable. A lot of times when trying to copy forum text and pictures , then trying to paste to a word doc , doesn't work.
I agree , it's annoying to see that there are a lot of them that are gone. Edit: @ OP can you list the ones you found that need pictures?
